Lil' Garden Helpers - Conserve Water in the Yard and Garden

Lil' Garden Helpers ~ Beagle Puppies ~ Tanya Amberson, painting by Tanya & Craig Amberson

Tips on conserving water in the yard and garden:

1.) Plant drought resistant lawns and plants.

2.) Use mulch around trees and plants to retain moisture in the soil.

3.) Consider using a drip irrigation system for garden and flowerbeds.

4.) Eliminate weeds that steal water from veggie and flower plants.

5.) Avoid container gardening. Plants in a container require more water than in ground plants.

6.) Collect rain water for flower plants.

7.) Don't water between 10 AM and 6 PM when hot sun will evaporate water.

8.) Water plants at soil level, not on leaves.

9.) Plant in the fall and spring when rain will water your plants naturally.

10.) Adjust your lawn mower to a higher setting. Taller lawns shade roots and hold moister.
