'Spring Pasture',

(Canadian west coast Impressionism, spring cottonwoods, Saanich Peninsula, plein air oil painting)

I painted this piece on the side of a country road last
Friday. A wonderful morning filled with light, bird song
and the spirit lifting scent of spring Cottonwood.
This pasture is being used by a large flock of sheep and
the wet area by geese, ducks and other birds and their
predators. It is this type of transient wetland that is in
critical short supply this spring throughout much of
western Canada, particularly in the prairies.
Lack of snow and spring rains have worsened
the drought conditions already present leaving large
areas too dry for waterfowl breeding habitat this year.
Close your eyes and wish for rain!
Oil on wood panel 6 x 8.
Thoughts and comments always appreciated!

Your work is always a statement of honoring nature and I hope it inspires many to think about interacting with our environment with more respect.

Love the light and colors in this paint a lot! Well done!
